History
Established in 1991, Dunfield Park Community Centre is located at 9 Vine Place in the City of Corner Brook, and serves a community of 196 social housing tenants with an approximate population of 657. While the units are owned and operated by Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC), the centre addresses a variety of social, educational and recreational needs within the community.

Mandate
The mandate of the Dunfield Park Community Centre is to promote the health and social well-being of families and the community in which they live, and to help develop a better social environment through recreational, educational and social programs.

Philosophy
The Dunfield Park Community Centre aims to create and maintain a safe, welcoming, nurturing environment which will encourage growth and support positive and socially acceptable interactions between children, parents, and older persons within the community.

Funding
While base funding for programs at each centre is also provided by NLHC, the centres seek new funding sources on a continual basis, in order to enhance the quality of programs and activities offered. The centre itself consists of three converted housing units which were refurbished by NLHC for the purpose of providing space for a community centre as well as a federally-funded Family Resource Centre. Maintenance as well as utility costs for the building are provided on an on-going basis through the corporation.

Staffing
The centre is operated by an Executive Director and a Program Co-ordinator who oversee the day-to-day programming and operations. When funding permits, part-time staff are hired as needed. In addition, neighborhood volunteers are a key resource for centre staff. Volunteers assist in running many of the centre's programs and activities.
